ATZ-TPH-process for optimized usage of organic waste

The treatment of organic waste by biological processes like composting and digesting only leads to a mass diminution from about 50 %.

Furthermore epidemic hygienically dubious waste must need to be disposed off for example in accordance with the disposal and processing of animal by-products (council directive EG 92/2005 and EG 1774/2002). Moreover, certain waste materials are not accessible to an anaerobic microbiological reduction without pre-treatment. The pre-treatment of different organic waste with the ATZ Thermal Pressure Hydrolysis process (TPH) leads to an increased mass reduction. The process conditions with temperatures up to 250 degrees Celsius and corresponding pressure ensuring liquid reaction phase also make the treatment of epidemic hygienically dubious waste materials possible, such as animal byproducts. After TPH pre-treatment the following mono fermentation runs more stable and faster than in conventional fermentation processes. The biogas yield is in the range of 200 to 300 m³/Mg raw material, with methane content about 70 %.
