Regenerative Energie
The article summarizes the results of a study commissioned by the Austrian ARA AG. A comparative analysis of the eco-efficiency of household lightweight and metal packaging waste Management in Germany and Austria has been conducted.
The comparison is premised on an Analysis of the legal bases (packaging rrdinances) and on established mass balances. Economic Efficiency of both systems has been assessed by evaluation of cost structures of the three value-added steps collection, sorting and recovery. Ecologic efficiency has been assessed by the resulting greenhousegas emissions and savings for both systems. The systems for management of lightweight and metal packaging in Germany and Austria show some basically differences. In Austria, only one system operator offers dispensation of all kinds of packaging waste materials from households.
