Regenerative Energie
Due to tough competition the cement industry in Middle Europe was looking and is still looking for options to utilize alternative fuels.
Fuels like pet-coke, spent solvents, used oil and plastic have become common and their energetic utilization in the cement industry is well accepted within the cement industry as well as in the waste management sector. Besides the microeconomic effect this involves also resource conservation caused by substitution of fossil fuels. Since the Kyoto Protocol was fully ratified another dimension became important. This is the emission of greenhouse gases. Per definition carbon dioxide emitted due to incineration of biogenous fuels is not climate relevant. Emission certificates are not needed therefore.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
