New Aftercare Conception for landfills: SFBC flare burning weak landfill gas

In DepoTech 2004 a gas flare based on a fluidised bubbling bed combustion (SFBC) plant had been introduced. This SFBC is operated automatically and remote controlled and is able to burn very poor landfill gases characterized by methane concentrations down to 5-8 vol.-%.

The plant is equipped with an air pre-heater that allows combustion air temperatures up to 450°C. The combustion temperature is 852°C ± 1°C. The flue gas residence time in the SFBC is in the order of 10 seconds.

The SFBC plant is continuously operated on a closed landfill. Because of the weak local mains supply the plant process control is able to re-start the plant automatically after short break-downs in the electric power supply.

Die innerstaatliche Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzübereinkommens - ein Rechtsvergleich

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
