In Germany on 24th March 2006 the most relevant regulations of the German Act on Electrical and Electronic Equipment (ElektroG) came into force.
In order to support the concerned parties (such as the electrical and electronics industry bearing the responsibility to take back, recycle and dispose of electrical and electronic equipment, the operators of recycling and disposal plants and the municipalities collecting B2C-equipment) in their work, the VDI guideline committee 2343 – recycling of electric and electronic devices – was founded. The Verein Deutscher Ingenieure“, the Association of German Engineers provides its technical and scientific expertise inter alia for the implementation of laws by issuing guidelines. Specialists from industry, science/ research and administration belong to the committee, who bring in their work on a probono basis. The objective is to elaborate practice-tailored and state of the art recommendations for the concerned parties which comply with the legal requirements. Following the logistic chain, the guideline was divided into seven parts. Each main/central aspect will be published in a separate sheet. In the following the main aspects will be presented briefly.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
