Long-term landfill management strategy planning requires considering a wide range of factors affecting the process of waste degradation.
The resulting emission load in the time of landfill life span has to be controlled. Process oriented modelling becomes essential supporting element in designing the facility structures, scheduling the maintenance and postclosure activities as well as in estimating their expected duration. A two-dimensional model describing the effect of solid phase composition and pore structure of the deposited municipal solid waste in landfill on the conversion phenomena and heat and gas transport taking into account the simultaneously occurring settlement processes was developed and verified with the help of long term experimental investigations. This model is based on theory of porous media (TPM) for a saturated thermo-elastic porous body. The using calculation concept in practice has to be fit for specific tasks, based on a profound understanding of the investigated problem – this one requires further model development. A concept for material analysis and experimental setup using state-of-the-art measurement techniques, adaptive control and measurement data acquisition system taking into account simultaneously occurring further model development and verification will be introduced. Moreover the test series plan will be presented.

Die innerstaatliche Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzübereinkommens
- ein Rechtsvergleich

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
