A total of 16 bio-polymers and synthetic materials were degraded under standardised laboratory composting conditions and additionally six materials were degraded in soil under controlled conditions.
All of the resulting composts were analysed for their chemical quality and for ecotoxic effects. During the course runtime of the soil degradation tests, samples were taken and analysed for chemical and ecotoxicological parameters. An excerpt of the data from this extensive study is presented in this paper. It is demonstrated, that some of the investigated materials could either influence the quality of the final compost or reduce the plant growth in the soil during the degradation phase. Nevertheless, the majority of products did at least not influence or contributed positively to the fertility of compost and soil.

Die innerstaatliche Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzübereinkommens

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
