Due to permanent improvements of Polyethylene (PE) pipe materials it is getting more and more difficult to estimate the lifetime of PE pipes with conventional tests within a reasonable timeframe.
The typical long-term failure behavior of these pipes is slow crack growth and as a result several fracture mechanics methods have been applied in the last few years to evaluate the long term performance. In the presented research work several commercially available PE pipe materials (PE 80, PE 100) were investigated with cyclic crack growth tests. With the test parameters found, fracture occurred within three days for all materials.

Die innerstaatliche Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzübereinkommens
- ein Rechtsvergleich

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
