Experimental tests on a flat and a semi-circular-shaped channel section, and on a 25 m long concrete channel section, have succeeded in finding effectively functional surface textures easily implementable in pipe production, and using which depositions of solids can be avoided even at low rates of flow and only slight gradients and, in the case of only intermittent operation, any deposited solids can be quickly rinsed off.
These discoveries have been applied to GRP pipes. Systematic tests using various arrangements and various texturing materials for a 24 m long 2/3 pipe-shell channel sections confirm that the application of textures to the interior side of a pipe base permits the achievement of a significant reduction in sediment clearance times. A texture consisting of individual elements makes a particular contribution to the generation of artificial turbulence.

Die innerstaatliche Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzübereinkommens

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
