The current geopolitical situation in Europe has led to revisit the evaluation of energetic independence of countries but also of regions. In this sense, previous works have shown the advantages of implementing regional integration schemes for bio-based production systems to promote the internal exchange of heat and by-products (Hildebrandt et al., 2020) (Bijon et al., 2022; Fytili & Zabaniotou, 2022).
This work presents the socio-economic and environmental life cycle evaluation ofalternative defossilization pathways for a bio-based industrial network in the Central Germanyregion. The pathways were defined considering the potential energy utilization of regionally availablebiomass residual streams. The evaluation has been made using an integrated approach, i.e.using a traditional life cycle assessment methodology, complemented by a regionalized socioeconomiclife cycle assessment, utilizing the 'RESPONSA†framework developed at UFZ. It hasbeen shown that the environmental advantages of the defossilization of the value chain add upto 5% of the reduction of the overall impacts, which was somehow expected due to the alreadyexisting integration and optimization in the value chain. The socio-economic results, however, show that the path to defossilization can provide a clear enhancement of the regional socio-economic impacts, which can be of great value to the bioeconomy sector.

Die innerstaatliche Umsetzung des Pariser Klimaschutzübereinkommens
- ein Rechtsvergleich

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
