The generic model can serve as transparent and fair option to compare anaerobic digestion to alternative treatment or disposal options of specific food side-flows for the purpose of a learning tool. The model can be adapted to other side-flows of the food industry if necessary.
The establishment of a generic model for the environmental assessment of anaerobic digestion of waste and by-products of the food industry faces several challenges. Next to the type and conditions of fermentation, the further use of the products biogas and digestate, the internal use of heat and electricity also the methane content of the feedstock and therewith the biogas yield are determining factors for the development of such a model. The model shall reflect the average situation in Europe and shall be suitable for the goal and scope of a web-based spreadsheet tool where it is applied. This contribution presents the approach, the data inventory and the assumptions behind such a generic model.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
