Integrated Solid Waste Treatment Concept for Electronic City, India

The waste management situation in Electronic City, Bangalore, India and its surrounding villages need immediate attention since over 100 tons of MSW is currently generated in these areas every day.

There is currently a lack of scientific disposal facility and this study evaluated treatment options for this study area. The two options of either retro-fitting the existing MBT plant built by the municipality of Bangalore (BBMP) which is located near the study area or building a new dedicated facility were evaluated in this paper. Even though the existing MBT was built with an investment of approximately 10 million EUR, there were serious technical and infrastructure issues. A detailed technical review concluded that building a new dedicated MBT for the study area is more beneficial than using the modified BBMP plant.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
