The Role of the Waste Management Sector in the Eco Balance of Different Life Styles - Greenhouse Gases, Energy, Area Demand

Considering the increasing world population, global demand for energy and material, the increasing greenhouse gas emission and energy consumption as well as the increasing competition for land, the questions arises, whether it is possible to satisfy the current needs of the living generation without compromising the needs of future generation.

How many people and which consumption matters can our planet sustain? Apart from the available renewable resources it is at least the individual citizen that has to live a sustainable life e.g. using renewable energy and materials in an appropriate manner. Is it possible to life a sustainable modern life that could be a global example of a 'Smart Citizen The purpose of this work is to assess and compare the environmental impacts - greenhouse gas emissions, primary energy demand of land - of different life styles and the role of the waste management sector.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
