The European photovoltaic industry is in the process of instituting a voluntary recovery system for end of life modules under the auspices of the PV CYCLE Association. Thus the high environmental standard of this product group can be upheld even if the modules can no longer produce electricity efficiently at their end of live.
A modern and green industrial production of photovoltaic products requires sound environmental policies of the companies involved. Therefore several companies founded PVCYCLE Association that can provide a European-wide take back and recycling solution for end of life modules utilizing several glass recyclers in different European countries. An essential milestone was fulfilled to establish a voluntary EU certified recycling system. The increasing amount of waste, the rocketing number of module types, and the wide variation of materials used require technical solutions for cost effective and sound recycling of all product types. The recent developments at Sunicon GmbH, a 100% subsidiary of SolarWorld AG, Bonn, are described that can offer a value preserving system in the future.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
