Regenerative Energie
A research project on behalf of the Federal Office for Environmental Protection aims to assess the quantity, the management and the aspects of resource preservation of commercial solid wastes.
This contribution summarizes substantial results concerning the material flow and describes the structure and efficiency of different sorting plants. So far the Commercial Wastes Ordinance only provides a mass-related rating which makes no difference between material recycling and energy recovery. A fast and viable concept of managing material flows is developed within the study. This concept seizes both the objectives of the EC Framework Directive on Waste and the draft Waste Avoidance, Recycling and Disposal Act and transfers them to the output flows of the pre-treatment plants for mixed commercial municipal waste.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
