The WTERT Greece (Synergia) presentation is an overview regarding waste management and WTE situation in Greece. SYNERGIA collaborates with EEC of Columbia University, the National Technical University of Athens (N.T.U.A), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.TH.) and also CEWEP. Its scientific research focused on WTE subjects and expands its scope on advancing the goals of sustainable waste management and mainly WTE development in Greece. Recently, Synergia succeeded to achieve the Greek Legislation L. 3851/2010 for Renewable Energy Sources (R.E.S.), which declares that the ‘biodegradable fraction of municipal solid waste’ is considered biomass, thus R.E.S and has a significant price for electricity to the network via WTE (87.85€/ÎœWh).

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
