The organic composting company Donau-Wald mbH (BBG) was founded in 1996 as a public-private partnership and is a subsidiary of the waste management company Donau-Wald mbH (AWG), Aussernzell (51%) in Bavaria and SIUS GmbH (49%), Homburg, Saarland.
The AWG is a 100%-subsidiary of the Bavarian special-purpose waste management association Donau-Wald, members of which include the municipalities of Deggendorf, Freyung-Grafenau, Passau, Regen as well as the municipality of Passau. The AWG is entrusted with the municipal task of disposing and utilizing waste in accordance with existing regulations. The population of the area for which the AWG is responsible is about 520,000. The collection area covers 4,500 km² and is, consequently, one of the largest in Bavaria.

Like all public international law treaties, the Paris Climate Accords rely on national law for their implementation. The success of the agreement therefore depends, to a large extent, on the stepstaken or not taken by national governments and legislators as well as on the instruments and mechanisms chosen for this task. Against this background, the present article compares different approaches to the implementation of the Paris Agreement, using court decisions as a means to assess their (legal) effectiveness.
